Online Presentation: Africa - Society

 

 

Introduction-This presentation is about the issues surrounding Africa as a society.

Africa dominates the news with information regarding Darfur, AIDS/HIV, and campaigns to end violence and advocate human rights such as Invisible Children. The social issues in Africa have stemmed from many factors--colonization by European and other nations, political conflicts resulting in war, famine which often stems from war, and poverty which is a result of all of these things.

 

As a group, we have attempted to break down the social aspects of this continent into three distinct categories.

• AIDS

 

Recent News

 

Prevention of AIDS in Africa within the Angola Army. (found on BBC news/ Africa, Angola) Sept 27, 2007. The work of the doctor implimenting safe practices can be viewed in a documentary called Condom Commando.

Current Situation-There are many issues being debated over in Africa today. Many of these issues are being met with political action, but some of these are still unresolved today.
